El Capitan & Guadalupe Peaks, Texas
This is a view of the west side of El Capitan and Guadalupe Peak in Texas.
The summits of the highest and third highest peaks in the state are not far
from one another as you can see from the coordinates below, taken from the Texas GPS Companion. (Remember, a
Minute of Latitude is 1.15 miles, and in this part of Texas, a Minute of
Longitude is about a mile.) US highway 62/180 rises to an elevation of 5,300
feet on its route through Guadalupe pass.
